WOODCOTE’S run of fine form extended to eight wins in the Downs Midweek League last Tuesday when they travelled to Welford Park for a re-arranged match against DOWNLANDERS.

Batting first, the visitors scored 194-8 in their 20 overs. Leading the way once again was Paul Knox, whose 85 included five sixes. He received good support from Jonny Aldridge (39) in a partnership worth 93, and James Wheeler (28) in a stand of 62.

In reply for Downlanders Will Herrington hit a quick fire half century so that at the halfway stage the home side were well up with the run rate.

When Knox entered the attack, the sixth bowler to be used, he took four wickets for 17 runs in four overs, plus a direct hit run out to ensure that Woodcote won the match by four runs.
