Youngster holds his nerve for Goring

A HALF-CENTURY by opener S Wincott helped GORING run out winners at home to HADDENHAM on Sunday.

A HALF-CENTURY by opener S Wincott helped GORING run out winners at home to HADDENHAM on Sunday.

Having elected to bat, Haddenham’s innings started well with Bharath and Asher scoring quickly as the visitors reached 136-1.

Tight bowling by Goring’s change bowlers saw the scoring rate slow and the innings closed on 178-6.

Goring’s response was a team effort with all the batsmen contributing, Owen Tong-Jones and Ollie Carrier playing well through the mid-on and mid-off areas. With four needed off the last over, Goring U13 Alfie Gammer-Flitcroft held his nerve and stroked the winning runs through backward point.
