Kidmore End have the edge

SONNING COMMON put up a spirited display on Sunday at KIDMORE END and took their neighbours to the last over

SONNING COMMON put up a spirited display on Sunday at KIDMORE END and took their neighbours to the last over before finally losing by five wickets.

The visitors batted first and initially found scoring difficult thanks mainly to fast bowling from Berryman and Glass. Eventually, they got some momentum and Mike Cann and skipper Chris Pitson put on 57 for the second wicket.

Cann scored 60 before Vinnie Sheehan and Chris Gallimore provided the more usual agricultural shots to get Sonning Common’s total up to 176-4.

Kidmore’s reply was rapid to start with and Dixon in particular scored freely. Sonning Common kept to their task well and it was the introduction of youngster Michael Barker that stemmed the scoring.

Sonning Common gradually pulled themselves back into the match by picking up wickets regularly, along with good fielding from youngsters Luke Pitson, Louis Gallimore and Michael Barker.

However, Dixon’s batting early on set Kidmore End up so they were never really behind the run rate and they hit the winning runs in the final over of the match.
