GREYS GREEN’S opening batsmen put on an undefeated stand to help their side to a comfortable victory at DORCHESTER on Sunday.
Electing to bat first the home side were soon in trouble with A Harris bowled by Rooke’s first ball and Ahmed, dismissing Pitson soon after.
T Harris looked dangerous before being bowled by a swinging Yorker by Ahmed and Dorchester were in trouble at 60-5.
Captain Hyde was joined by McComb and, between them, they forged a stand of almost 100.
Both fell to Cusden in quick succession and although Neal provided a late flourish, Dorchester closed on 177-7.
In reply Butler scored three boundaries in the first over and he continued to punish the loose ball with great efficiency.
His partner Dennis also scored fluently and, between them they proceeded to overhaul their target with six overs to spare.
With the scores tied Butler just failed to reach his century; needing a boundary, he could only manage a single to finish on 97 not out while Dennis scored 54.
