HURLEY U11s continued their unblemished record with a comfortable victory over PURLEY U11s in Division 2 of the Berkshire Colts League.
Ewan Ballard fell first ball for Hurley to Coggs; Ollie Dawkins and Jack Hill scampered singles at any opportunity and punished any loose deliveries. Despite only hitting two fours, Dawkins was able to retire on 26 while Hill fell just short on 23.
Blake Dyson was bowled by a spinning delivery to leave Hurley at 67-3. A good partnership by Louis Skelton (22) and James Calliss (23) helped Hurley close on 131.
In response Hurley made early inroads as Dawkins demolished the stumps of Harlowe second ball. Despite a decent run rate, the steady flow of wickets kept Purley in check. Ballard impressed with figures of 3-16, bowling all three of his victims.
Durcan (13) and the inspired Coggs (37 not out) ensured the game remained competitive, but with James Calliss picking up a further two wickets (2-9) to add to his impressive season’s tally.
Purley fell short of their target on 108-9 despite late innings defiance from Coggs. Gabriel Trayte picked up a late wicket, while Hannah Dawkins, making her debut for Hurley, bowled her first over.
