Retiring player picks up award

HENLEY Cricket Club held their annual player of the year awards at their Brakspear Ground pavilion last Friday.

HENLEY Cricket Club held their annual player of the year awards at their Brakspear Ground pavilion last Friday.

The President’s Shield was awarded to Todd Ferguson who retired as a player at the end of this title-winning season but will continue in his capacity as club coach.

First, second, third and fourth team players of the year were David Barnes, Jason Barber, Prakash Gurung and Henry Oldershaw respectively. The young player of the year award went to Cameron Jacobsen.

The chairman’s award went to Dick Keeble in recognition of many years’ service to the club that has latterly included mentoring Tony King as he assumed the role of Henley groundsman and getting the Nettlebed ground, where the thirds and fourths play their matches, up and running.
