WHITCHURCH invited visitors GREYS GREEN to bat first in their 35 over match on Saturday and promptly made inroads, reducing Greys to 50-5 after 20 overs.

Shafqat and R Loader produced an important stand of 45 in eight overs and, aided by a quick-fire 13 from Ahmed, Greys Green reached 128-8 before their allocation ran out.

The Whitchurch opening pair of Vaughan and Redicliffe both scored 17 to give their side a reasonable start but thereafter wickets began to fall at regular intervals and, at one time Whitchurch were in dire straits at 60-8.

R Heard and Neeson brought the home side back into the game but when Neeson was well caught by Shafqat, the final wicket soon followed, leaving Greys winners by 38 runs in their final game of the season.
