CRAZIES Hill and Cockpole Green Cricket Club have a tradition known as “country members unavailable for today’s game”.

The only criteria for membership is that you must be able to improve the team when playing Nettlebed and to have been a world class player.

Previous members include West Indies greats Gary Sobers and Desmond Haynes and England legends Ian Botham, Andrew Strauss and Alan Knott. Now they have been joined by West Indian fast bowling great Michael Holding, now a TV pundit.

The other member of this illustrious group is former club captain Greg Boden. Fellow player Stephen Hanton says: “Greg’s not world class but he’s big and you wouldn’t want to argue with him!”
