Acland-Hood shines for Checkendon

Opener John Acland-Hood hit 112, including a six and 19 fours, as the visitors reached 234-8. Vikas Chib and Manpreet Singh also made important contributions.

Farley Hill replied with 18 from the first two overs but subsequently collapsed as swing bowler Ash Talreja took 4-11. Left arm spinner Varun Kaushal weighed in with 3-8 to finish the innings.

Checkendon dismissed thehome side for 82, helped by a number of good catches and a good stumping from Matt Heslop.

WEST READING chose to bat first in their 40-over friendly at CHECKENDON on Saturday and raced to 40 for the first wicket.

A combination of accurate bowling and safe catching brought the home side back into the game despite good batting conditions. The visitors ended their innings on 158 all out with Sandeep Hegde taking 3-19.

Matt Heslop anchored the Checkendon reply, scoring 31 and sharing a 52-run second wicket partnership with Aidan Trotter. Ash Talreja took the game away from West Reading with an undefeated 49 as Checkendon secured victory with eight overs to spare.
