HIGHMOOR began their season with a 40-over clash at home to HAMBLEDEN on Sunday.

Shamil and Luke Wells opened and made a brisk start for the hosts, Wells in particular striking the ball to all parts. His stumping for 51 bought in Rizmy who carried on the hard hitting for his 48.

Shamil meanwhile progressed to a hard fought 90. A well stroked cameo of 29 by Owen Crawshaw saw the home side to an impressive 241-6. The Hambleden bowlers stuck to their task well with K Baily the pick, taking 3-41.

The Hambleden reply got off to a bad start with Murton bowled by Jeff Pearce in his first over while Rosier and Dickie batted well against the lively pace of Luke Wells and Joey Edwards.

Rosier showed good presence and determination for his well fought 89 as the visitors ended on 183-6. Owen Crawshaw was the pick of the home bowlers with 3-32.
