Stevens is century hero for Harpsden

WILL STEVENS hit an impressive 103 not out as HARPSDEN eased to victory against FLEET STREET

WILL STEVENS hit an impressive 103 not out as HARPSDEN eased to victory against FLEET STREET STROLLERS on Sunday.

Following some overnight rain, Fleet Street Strollers, having won the toss, elected to bowl first.

Harpsden started poorly as three wickets fell quickly with just 19 on the board. A fine opening spell from Hodgson, mixed with a slow wicket meant that runs were hard to come by.

Christian Whittaker and Stevens started slowly but as they got in, runs started to flow with Stevens being the aggressor. A fine 173 run partnership filled with high quality strokes took Harpsden to a respectable score of 218 off their 40 overs.

In reply the Fleet Street Strollers never looked in the chase losing wickets at regular intervals and only two batsmen reaching double figures.

A quick opening spell from Zac Jones mixed with a swinging masterclass from James Brooks meant that the visitors were in for a tough afternoon.

Skipper J Imperley showed some fight and dug in while those around him crumbled but when he went, the rest followed with the Strollers ending on 106 all out.
