Foster hits chanceless innings to sink Turville

HENLEY ASTROS hit back from 9-5 to run out winners at TURVILLE PARK on Sunday.

HENLEY ASTROS hit back from 9-5 to run out winners at TURVILLE PARK on Sunday.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, skipper Sam Beardall delivered some lusty blows to give the home side a strong start with a fast scoring rate, though the visitors chipped away at wickets with only John Hancock and James Hunt contributing significantly.

Beardall scored 66 before being run out with a direct hit from Ed Foster at backward point. At 110-4 from 20 overs Turville still looked set for a large total but three wickets from Robbie Mortimer and two from Foster tore through the Turville line-up to leave the home side at 149 all out.

In reply, tight bowling from Tom White and Nick Henry soon had the Astros in trouble, reducing the visitors to 9-5, four batsmen out without troubling the scorer.

Opener Dan Austin and Ed Foster stabilised the innings, scoring a solid 32. When Austin departed Foster continued the late-order rally with Roy Cox. Foster scored a chanceless 57 with Cox contributing 47 in a partnership which saw the Astros reach their target for victory with three wickets in hand.
