Hosts Greys Green settle for share of the spoils

DESPITE lacking their usual nucleus of players on Saturday, GREYS GREEN managed to hold out for a draw against the STROLLING OPTIMISTS on Saturday.

Although wickets fell at regular interval runs also came quickly although only two Optimists â?? D Curran and P Marsh â?? made scores of note, both recording knocks of 63.

The Optimists were all out on the stroke of tea with 221 on the board.

This target was always going to be difficult to overhaul, especially as more than half their batsmen made a good start, before falling when they might have started to press on.

Lubbock, Smith and S Perry seemed to have made the game safe until a flurry of wickets towards the end left Greys hanging on to escape with a draw.

GREYS GREEN had to settle for their second draw in as many days against visitors LITTLE MARLOW on Sunday.

Shafqat and Ahmed bowled well as the visitors were restricted to 182-5 by tea. Although Greys Green lost an early wicket, Knight and Shafqat advanced the score from 18 to 134 before both fell in quick succession to Hussain. Knight made 85 and Shafqat 43 but the new batsmen found it difficult to pick up the pace and, in their haste to score quickly, Greys lost four wickets for just one run as the game ended with honours with the host 17 runs short.
