A HIGH-SCORING 35-over friendly at WHITCHURCH ended in victory for CHECKENDON by a margin of just three runs.

Visiting opener Jon Westcar hit exactly 100, including four sixes and 17 fours, as Checkendon made 246-9.

Lyn Williams was the most successful bowler for Whitchurch taking 3-51.

Cormack Neeson led the reply for the home team with 81 supported by Scott Williams who hit 61.

In a tense finale Checkendon held their collective nerve thanks to the death bowling of Vikas Chib and Prashent Panwar, backed up by a fine fielding display from the young visiting side.
