JAMES KNIGHT ended on an undefeated stand of 96 as hosts GREYS GREEN eased to a comfortable victory against HARWELL on Sunday.
On a dry pitch with fast outfield the hosts managed to keep in check the Harwell openers. P Eccelstone looked dangerous but he was deceived by a slower ball from Pinhol for 32.
Hawkes proved the mainstay of the Harwell innings but he benefited from three lives along the way to making 55 and although A Eccelstone and Amjad made useful contributions, no one was able to break the shackles of the bowlers, all of whom bowled well, with Shafqat and Skilleter being the most successful. Harwell closed their innings on 171-9 by tea.
In reply Evans and Knight opened circumspectly but, once they had gauged the speed of the wicket, runs started to accumulate quickly, with boundaries being the preferred option of both.
Boag’s introduction brought Evans’ wicket for 39, with the score at 82 but, thereafter, the scoring rate increased still further, with Knight enjoying the conditions as he ended on 96 out and and Perry, his partner on 30 not out as the hosts eased to 173-1.
