NETTLEBED’S wicket covers made possible a full 40 over friendly against CHECKENDON on Sunday despite some heavy rain. Both fielding sides struggled with the wet ball but batsmen prospered.
Jack Russell hit 96 not out for the home side with support from Matt Vines and Dave Buxton taking the total to 205-4. Alex Kukstas bowled seven overs for just 13 runs.
Checkendon opener Ash Tripathi replied with an undefeated 111, striking the ball to all parts of the ground with a series of daring shots and sharing partnerships of 99 with Matt Heslop and 103 with Kukstas.
The visiting side, assisted by Nettlebed’s difficulties catching the slippery ball, reached their target for the loss of just two wickets with 4.2 overs to spare. Lee Vockins and Owen Simmons were the stand out bowlers for the home team.
