TURVILLE ran out winners at home to FLYCATCHERS in a competitive match that saw the hosts hold off a late charge to secure victory by just 20 runs.
Turville’s 239 was largely built around a strong opening stand between Sam Beardall and Ollie Thornton with contributions from Tim Wade and a late cameo from James Thornton which ultimately proved to be the difference.
Flycatchers’ reply started badly as they were on 84-7 with all seven wickets falling to James Hunt in a brutal spell of fast inswing which included three catches behind the wicket.
Number eight Rory Banks proceeded to dominate the Turville attack to compile an effortless 109. However, Ollie Thornton was finally able to induce Banks to take a difficult chance running in from the boundary to win the match.
