MATTHEW SKILLETER hit an impressive 86 not out to help GREYS GREEN triumph at STONOR on Sunday.
The home team elected to bat first but found themselves on the defensive in the face of some tight overs from Ahmed, Shafqat and Rooke.
Captain Lovatt started to find gaps on the fast outfield and together with Hoiles and then with Powell he proceeded to raise the tempo, especially against the slow bowlers.
Ahmed and Skilleter returned to bowl the final overs to re—establish control and when Lovatt was bowled for 81, the eventual tea—time score of 177—5 was slightly below par.
Greys lost Knight to some pacy bowling from Kavanagh and found themselves falling behind the required rate and were reliant on Skilleter for keeping them in touch.
When the fourth wicket fell, Greys Green needed 60 from the final eight overs but, gradually, with new partner Rooke, Skilleter passed his half—century and the final over arrived with nine still needed. Only three balls were needed as Greys achieved their target with Skilleter undefeated.
