Skipper keeps cool head to win it for Crazies Hill

CRAZIES HILL captain, Ian Stuart, managed to see his side to a nerve jangling victory over HURLEY on Sunday.
Having won the toss, hosts Crazies elected to field. Despite some accurate bowling Ridgeway and Lewis were untroubled adding 34 in brisk fashion.
Connell chose to come round the wicket and the tactic worked immediately as he bowled both Lewis and Hussain in the space of five balls and, when he caught Walton off Simpson soon after, Hurley were struggling at 39-3.
With Ridgeway looking to rebuild the innings, Taylor was well caught as Doug Montgomery took a running catch off his son’s bowling. Brown then joined Ridgeway and began to take the attack to the bowlers, bludgeoning a rapid 21 before being stumped off Margrie, having taken the score to 75.
Junaid tried to follow on from Brown and, riding his luck, managed to see Hurley through to a modest total of 141 as Ridgeway finished unbeaten on 57.
Crazies started confidently, punishing any wayward deliveries from Hurley’s opening bowlers, but, as Basharat began to find the perfect length to get the most out of the pitch, soon found themselves in trouble as he had Noyes caught behind, trapped Doug Montgomery lbw and got Lerche-Thomsen caught without scoring to leave the hosts 37-3. Opener Barnes-Yallowly managed to steady the ship, adding 26 with Sam Montgomery and 35 with Connell before being bowled by Junaid, leaving Crazies needing 44 off 14 overs to win with five wickets remaining. Connell was now joined by Palmer and runs began to flow freely and victory seemed assured.
However, with only 11 needed, an inspired late burst from Brown caused havoc as he removed Connell and Simpson in the same over, without Crazies adding to their score. When he bowled Palmer in his following over, Crazies still needed six to win with only two wickets now remaining. In need of assurance, captain Stuart, cover drove the winning boundary.
