PEPPARD STOKE ROW Under-9s marched into the final of the Berkshire Youth League with a superb 48-run win at home to Pangbourne and Whitchurch on Sunday.
With the sides both starting on 200 and losing five runs for each wicket lost, Connor Lamsdale and Joe Biggin were the standout performers as the team ended on 259 after being asked to bat.
A disciplined bowling and fielding effort by Pangbourne saw them take three wickets.
However, the visitors’ efforts were eclipsed by a wonderful display from Peppard Stoke Row, who took eight wickets in total as Pangbourne could only close on 211. Hugo Donald (3-2) and Sam Godwin (2-2) were the pick of the Peppard Stoke Row attack, but all of their bowlers performed admirably and the fielding was outstanding.
Peppard Stoke Row will now play either Henley or Cookham Dean in the final.
Peppard Stoke Row Under- 15s will also have a crack at silverware after beating Braywood by six wickets in the semi-final of their Division Two play-offs.
The home side were restricted to 81-7, and Peppard Stoke Row knocked the runs off in 19 overs, setting up a final against Falkland or Datchet.
