WOODCOTE brought down the curtain on their season last Sunday with a win by 25 runs at WHITE WALTHAM.
The visitors were given a good start to their innings by veterans Pete Roberts and Crawford Anderson, who between them have given more than 65 years’ service to the club. The core of the innings was provided by Mike Higley, playing only his second game of the season, and vice-captain, Mark Pearson, who both hit half-centuries in a partnership worth 134 runs.
The home reply started well and a tremendous innings by Thomas gave them some hope of victory but, with Mark Robertson (3-32) and Mike Stroker (3-24) bowling well and Mark Pearson (2-2) coming on late in the match, the victory was secured with three overs to go.
