Rizmy hits winning runs

HIGHMOOR ran out comfortable winners at home to MORTIMER WEST END on Sunday.

HIGHMOOR ran out comfortable winners at home to MORTIMER WEST END on Sunday.

Having won the toss and elected to field the Highmoor opening bowlers Dave Stephens and Luke Crawshaw ripped through the top order. Stephen’s cunning change of pace and Crawshaw’s raw pace accounted for five wickets, one a stunning diving catch by Stephens.

The introduction of skipper Ian Harris and Shamil brought two more cheap wickets. Mortimer numbers eight and nine led a fight back with 47 and 25 respectively but their innings eventually closed on 128 all out in the 35th over.

The Highmoor reply started well with Shamil accumulating carefully and Crawshaw hooking and driving to and over the boundary. Crawshaw’s dismissal, bowled for 37, brought the in form Rizmy to the wicket who punished anything short as his knock of 42 helped Highmoor to victory in the 25th over.
