STONOR opener Mayo hit a half century to help his side to an eight-wicket home victory against SONNING on Sunday.

Clear skies and sunshine greeted the players for the last game of the season in which the home team won the toss and asked the visitors to bat.

Accurate blowing by Kavanagh and Swinburne kept the score down and tied the Sonning batsmen down. The pressure was building and this led to some rash shots and quick wickets that soon put the hosts in a commanding position. In the last over before tea the visitors were bowled out for 107.

The hosts opened their innings with good intent and Mayo started to accrue runs and provide a platform, Williams was dismissed and Powell was trapped in front of the wicket which brought skipper Lovatt to the crease. Mayo and Lovatt finished the innings and sealed a victory for the hosts.
