Watts in fine form for Peppard

PEPPARD STOKE ROW experienced mixed fortunes as they opened their Berkshire Indoor League campaign at Bradfield College on Sunday evening.

Andy Watts led from the front as Peppard Stoke Row totalled 128-5 in their 12 overs against WELFORD PARK, a fine fielding display then restricting their Berkshire League rivals to 97-3 in a 31-run success.

Peppard Stoke Row found the going tougher in their second game against BURNHAM, falling to a 47-run defeat.

Craig Anderson took three wickets and youngster Danny May also impressed with two, but the powerful Burnham batting side blasted their way to 173 all out.

That total always appeared as though it would be too many, and despite the best efforts of Watts (40) and Phil Duncan (24), Peppard Stoke Row subsided to 126 all out.

l Pepaprd Stoke Row’s winter net sessions start tomorrow (Saturday) for Over 14s and above, running from 3.30pm to 4.30pm at The Oratory School.

Peppard Stoke Row run three Saturday sides which play in the Berkshire League, along with two Sunday sides and youth cricket from Under 6 to Under 19. Nets for the younger juniors begin after Christmas.

Anyone interested in joining the club can email incoming chairman Gerry Bacon at baconwith ers@tesco.net for more information.
