Crawshaw in fine form for Highmoor

HIGHMOOR took the honours in a closely fought match with IPSDEN on Sunday.

HIGHMOOR took the honours in a closely fought match with IPSDEN on Sunday.

Having lost the toss and asked to bat first, Highmoor made steady progress against the accurate bowling of Ipsden’s M Hughesdon.

The Highmoor top six all scored runs with Rizmy (34), O Crawshaw (25) and skipper Ian Harris (36) helping their side to 181-8 off 35 overs. Hughesdon was the pick of the Ipsden bowlers finishing on 3-41 off seven overs.

In reply a good opening spell from J Pearce — 1-21 off seven overs — kept one end quiet while D Stevens removed Wood for 32. This brought together D Houseman (35) and E Houseman who hit five sixes in his innings of 59 runs.

At 130-3 Ipsden looked on course to win but L Crawshaw removed both set batsmen and in tandem with Harris dried the runs up until nine-man man Ipsden were all out for 154 in the last over. L Crawshaw completed his first five wicket haul, taking 5-17 off six overs.
