Hetaroi triumph

CHECKENDON’S James Allaway’s half-century was not enough as visitors HETAROI triumphed on Sunday.

CHECKENDON’S James Allaway’s half-century was not enough as visitors HETAROI triumphed on Sunday.

Allaway’s partnership of 74 with Luke Gray enabled the home team to reach 183 all out despite some residual moisture in the pitch and outfield after an opening stand of 51 between Ujjwal and Panwar had taken some of the sting from the opening attack of Prior junior and Patel who finished with four wickets apiece.

The visitors were under pressure to maintain the run rate in reply thanks to fine fielding from Sam Arrowsmith who brought off two run outs with direct hits. Ed Wilman’s undefeated 47 proved decisive as did some dropped catches though there were good spells of bowling from left arm spinner Harry Wickens and medium pacer Adi Tripathi. The winning runs were struck in the penultimate over with four wickets in hand.
