Lubbock shines with bat for Greys Green

A DEPLETED GREYS GREEN team put in a good performance in the field in their 35

A DEPLETED GREYS GREEN team put in a good performance in the field in their 35 over fixture at WHITCHURCH on Saturday.

With only one regular bowler, Greys kept the opposition in check throughout and wickets fell at regular intervals, with Cusden and Valand the most successful in their eight-over allocation.

For Whitchurch, Neeson and Staker formed the crucial partnership before both were caught by Haynes, who went on to take four catches in all. Whitchurch ended on 136-9.

In reply Greys were never able to form the partnerships which might have put some pressure on the Whitchurch bowlers and, with the ball now softer, runs were harder to garner than in the first innings.

Lambert scored aggressively for a while before being undone by the low bounce, as were several others, and Greys were eventually dismissed for 74 in 28 overs.

A Lubbock hit a century as GREYS GREEN ran out winners at HARWELL on Sunday.

Lubbock and Lambert scored quickly at a fast pace with numerous boundaries. No bowler was able to put the brakes on as Greys declared at 245-5. In reply wicket-keeper Lambert took two catches and a stumping, whilst Lubbock weighed in with 4-22. Harwell resisted well but were never likely to overtake their target and they were eventually all out for 102 in 34 overs.
