DEBUTANT Paul Stanton hit an undefeated 101 runs as HARPSDEN defeated visitors WEST LONDON LIONS on Sunday.
On an overcast day, but on a good pitch, Harpsden skipper Adam Birkett elected to bat first.
S Imlay was removed in the first over, mistiming the ball back to the bowler Praveen.
The rebuilding process started with S Burgess and Jack Roddan who put on an important 68 run partnership but with both of them departing at similar times, Harpsden looked short at 84-3 at the half way stage.
Newcomer Stanton hit some good strokes and hit six runs off the last over to reach his century. Stanton was ably supported by Adam Birkett. Harpsden finished on an above par score of 248 off their 40 overs.
In reply the West London Lions were able to put on small partnerships with five of their batsmen getting into the 20s but not pushing on to make the big score required.
This was down to some fine bowling from young Harpsden duo Max Martin and Mathew Stanley. Eventually the game came to an end when M Stanley bowled Nilesh with the Lions reaching 144 all out off 38 overs.
