Muhley’s four under par score enough to secure Float Cup

THE annual running of the Floate Cup took place at Henley Golf Club last week and resulted in a win for five handicapper Peter Muhley with a four under par net 66 to take Division 1 and the cup.
Steve Webb was the runner up in the top division with a net 67 which was one shot better than third place Martyn Metcalfe.
Alan Gaffney was the only player in the top division to better his handicap with a net 69.
Past captain and president Craig Breeze had a welcome return to form with a net 69 to claim Division 2 which bettered another past captain Ray Ponsford by three shots.
Len Leigh and Simon Blackwell were one shot behind in third and fourth place respectively.
Breeze’s playing partner Alistair Crawford claimed Division 3 with a net 69 which was two shots better than John Howie and Paul Bradford. Rob Edwards was a shot further behind in fourth place.
Guy Phillips and his partner Nick Grainger were successful in the Gray Cup, the leading pairs competition played at Henley with a score of six up against the course.
The duo edged out the pairings of Martyn Metcalfe andJason Livy and Len Leigh and Keith Hillas on the countback rule.
The Luker Putter was won by three handicapper Mark Farina with a net 66 which was a shot in front of Floate Cup winner Peter Muhley whilst Chris Cunningham and Jason Livy were close behind with net 69s.
There was a close finish in the Seniors event which took place on Monday where the ladies’ captain’s husband Nigel Woolven edged out the club captain Roger Hudson on countback when both players recorded 40 Stableford points. Peter Ferretti was third with 37 points.
