Taylor and Walton help ease Hurley Development side to victory

HURLEY once again stepped up to the plate in a closely fought development match against

HURLEY once again stepped up to the plate in a closely fought development match against BRAYWOOD on Sunday.

The hosts won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Braywood batsmen set off at a brisk pace as Scott Taylor and Cameron Wright struggled to find rhythm.

A poor call from Craig Ellis when Raff Bowler misfielded led to Casper Muir being run out as Bowler recovered to send an accurate throw to the keeper.

A couple of boundaries by Ellis looked to have set him on his way to a good innings when Wright produced a big in-swinger to the left hander to take his middle stump.

Taylor finally got his radar tuned in to dismiss Branwhite at 39-3. Jack Core and Harvey Rackley-Hayes continued to take the attack to the bowlers with an 82 run partnership from only 10 overs before Alex Williams and Raff Bowler struck in successive overs.

Another two wickets for Bowler reduced the visitors to 132-7 with more than half the overs still remaining. The introduction of James Calliss and Dave Walton put the brakes on the run scoring and dragged Hurley back into the match. Brett Carter and Nikil Jathavedan made sure that Braywood batted out the 40 overs to finish on 207-9.

The Hurley reply also got off to a flying start with Stephen Wright and Shaan Hussein posting 93 in 11 overs. Casper Muir struck in successive overs to dismiss both the openers and Yasir Gul.

From 95-1 Hurley suffered a mini collapse to 125-5 in six overs. Henry Graham and Scott Taylor got the innings back on track with a 59 run partnership from 13 overs. When Graham fell caught by Muir off Raza, Hurley only required 29 for victory with nine overs remaining. Taylor and Mike Walton eased their side to victory with three overs remaining.
