RICHARD Ashton smashed a century from just 67 balls as PEPPARD STOKE ROW 2nds defeated BAMVILLE by five wickets.
With their Division 2 Berkshire League game conceded by Stratfield Turgis 2nds, Peppard Stoke Row picked up a friendly  against the Hertfordshire club.
The visitors made a flying start through openers Bilal Farid and Amir Kureshi, racing along at more than six an over for the opening 20.
However, fine spells from Ken Sullivan, Olly Nicholson, Sam Fooks and the returning Roy Hayden restricted Bamville to 219, their lower order struggling to match the feats of the top.
The hosts suffered a disastrous start as they lost openers Hugh Asquith and Riaan Ackerman cheaply, but the belligerent Ashton smashed nine fours and six sixes before retiring on 100. Richard Walker proved a more sedate accomplice but his role was equally as important, and with Simon Gozzard blasting a quick-fire cameo and the classy Fooks guiding the chase, Peppard Stoke Row reached their target with almost nine overs to spare.
