Youngster Simmons secures maiden fifer

NETTLEBED ran out comfortable winners against HAMBLEDEN on Sunday.

NETTLEBED ran out comfortable winners against HAMBLEDEN on Sunday.

Having won the toss and electing to bat first Nettlebed’s Adam Warner and inform Greg Bennett put on 69 for the first wicket on a good track when Warner fell for 36. Ahmad Osman came to the crease and dispatched the ball to all parts of the ground with three sixes in a knock of 76.

Skipper Rob Simmons joined Bennett at the crease to push Nettlebed past 250 with Bennett falling three short of his century.

In reply Hambleden found runs hard to come by as Butler’s swing bowling picked up two early wickets as Rafe and Rob Dickie shored up the innings until Rafe was run out by Jack Latter.

The introduction of 12-year-old Owen Simmons ripped through the Hambleden middle order as he bowled with good line and length to pick up his maiden five wicket hall as Nettlebed ran out 97 run winners.
