A drink driver has been jailed after a footballer lost his leg in a serious crash on the M27.
The driver of a Mercedes, Anna Malgorzata Bogusiewicz, of Park Avenue in Wraysbury, crashed into a VW Golf, which had been pulled over onto the M27 hard shoulder.
Police were called to a report of a serious collision on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10.25pm.
Footballer Jordan Chiedozie was inspecting a flat tyre on the Golf when the crash happened.
The court heard his injuries were so severe that he lost his leg and was put into an induced coma.
Bogusiewicz, 45, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and a charge of drink driving.
She was handed a 28-month prison sentence at Southampton Crown Court today (January 23).
She will also be disqualified from driving for three years after her release and will need to undergo an extended retest before being allowed to drive again.
DC Joy Jarvis said: "There is absolutely no excuse for getting behind the wheel of any vehicle when you are impaired from drinking alcohol.
"This terrible collision, which has changed a man's life, could have easily been avoided if the defendant hadn't made that selfish decision to drive while drunk."
