MEDMENHAM athlete Pippa Woolven put in one of her best performances of the year as she picked up a silver medal in the senior women’s Saucony National Cross Country Championships event last weekend.
Run over 8km in the grounds of Harewood House in Leeds, South of England champion Woolven finished in a time of 28 minutes and 28 seconds in a field of 1,500 competitors.
Fellow GB athlete Emily Hosker Thornhill won the event in a time of 28 minutes, 17 seconds with Jessica Judd in third place.
Following on the back of her win at the Southern Championships, this result should put Woolven in a good position for selection for the World Cross Country Championships being held in Denmark at the end of next month.
