County call up for Shiplake College duo

TWO Shiplake College students have been selected to represent Oxfordshire at the National Schools Cross Country event in March.

Alfie Malcolm and Emily Over finished fourth and ninth respectively in their events at Radley College on Tuesday of last week in the Oxfordshire Schools Cross Country Championships.

The duo were representing Shiplake along with fellow students Harry Bigg, Will Tavinor, Tom Lebeau and Gregor Jones.

Bigg was first to race and finished in the top 50. In the following race, Malcolm and Will Tavinor raced a 5.4km heat and also finished strongly. Malcolm finished fourth with a time of 19 minutes and 40 seconds.

In the girls’ U19s event, Over finished ninth with a time of just over 22 minutes. In the final race, Lebeau and Jones finished in the top 25.
