‘Devil’s duathlon’

AN off-road mountain bike and trail race event will take place on the Hambleden Estate in May.

Hellrider, which is known as the “Devil’s duathlon” is an eight-hour circuit race.

Athletes can either run or cycle or do both and choose how many laps of the course they complete. They can raise money for either CLIC Sargent, which supports children with cancer, or a charity of their choice.

Event director Paul Magner said: “We are delighted to be moving to the Hambleden Estate. It allows us to offer camping the night before and after the race so we can make it a brilliant weekend away for families and groups of friends The circuit format means your family and mates can watch as you come through the transition area again and again. For competitors it will be a suffer-fest but your support angels will have a heavenly time with food, music and entertainment.”

More than 600 people are expected to take part in the event on Saturday May 11. Last year, it was held at High Wycombe. Teams of three or five and individuals can enter at www.hellrider.co.uk
