Clive can make your mutt a star of advert

READERS familiar with Henley painter Clive Hemsley from his portraits of their dogs may be interested to learn that he could now make your pooches famous.

His “proper” job is leading a creative agency that handles the advertising account for a major mobile UK network and he needs some help from dog owners.

Clive says: “I would like to produce a commercial using Henley’s dogs and I need to enrol all you creative owners as film-makers.

“All the network providers have a problembuilding the network structure and the message needs to go out to the planners and Government to be more proactive.

“Your part is simple. I need you to take your camera and, using the hi-res/raw settings on landscape format, film three to six seconds of your dog with a phone at his/her ear.

“This sort of thing has been done quite cleverly on You Tube with dogs eating in restaurants with jumpers on and someone putting their hands up the sleeve to feed them. See

“You have to get the camera at a low angle and shoot just the head and neck (probably use a child’s hand up the jumper to hold a phone to your woof’s ear).

“We are looking for a pub or restaurant shot, or a car or bus shot, or at home etc... use your imagination.

“The agency will put together a composition of the best 12/15 clips that will make your dog look like it is talking. The dogs will be talking about the network problems and being cut off! And, yes, the clips we use will all be paid for.”

Please send your clips by the end of January to Clive at or call him on 07702 494424.
