LADY McALPINE is thrilled at the thought of restaurateur Paul Clerehugh having his hair dyed red like hers.
As the Henley Standard reported last week, the Crooked Billet proprietor has agreed to do it for the Fawley Hill Vintage Festival in May, which she is hosting and where he will be running a pop-up restaurant. He said: “There is nothing more crazy, nutty or downright daft than doing something for Lady McAlpine.”
She tells me that the idea first came up four years ago when her husband Sir William was president of the Henley Show.
Paul said he loved her hair and wished he had it but when she gave him some red hair dye he chickened out. “Now he has to do it,” she says, “brilliant!”
The good thing, of course, is that the whole thing is in aid of charity.
