Ballet dancer, 91, recalls performing at Kenton

A WOMAN flew from Australia to Henley to gather information for a biography she is writing.

Michelle Potter is looking into the life of ballet dancer Dame Margaret Scott, who performed at the Kenton Theatre more than 60 years ago.

On Monday, she met theatre managing director Wendy Bowsher and archivist Bill Port and was shown around the building.

Dame Margaret performed at the Kenton in December 1952 as a dancer in Alice Through The Looking Glass, which was choreographed by the young John Cranko and designed by John Piper and Osbert Lancaster.

During her time here she stayed at what she called a “farmhouse” on the Stonor Park estate.
