Floods that Danny La Rue would have seen

THIS is what the floods in Henley looked like in 1948.

The picture was sent to me by Jim Hammant who says it was taken by his late father Owen and he believes it shows Marsh Lock looking from Wargrave Road.

He says: “I do not recognise the buildings on the far side. My only clue is the white one which is where Danny La Rue used to live, at the bottom of Mill Lane.

“It is certainly topical at present, especially for those poor households that are flooded.”
