IS all not well among members of the Henley Residents’ Group, the ruling party on the town council?
There was some notable dissent when members of the recreation and amenities committee elected its chairman recently.
Deputy Mayor Jeni Wood (HRG) was proposed by party colleague David Clenshaw, who was seconded by Sam Evans, a Conservative.
When Mayor Martin Akehurst (HRG) asked if there were any other nominations Kellie Hinton (HRG) proposed herself, saying: “I probably won’t get a seconder but I’d like to do it.”
Independent David Silvester then seconded Kellie’s proposal but she lost the election by six votes to three. Accepting the post, Jeni said: “Thank you very much for those who voted me in.”
