COUNCILLOR Ian Reissmann was left with a red face (though not a bloody nose) when he showed his ignorance about Boxercise.

As reported last week, Henley Town Council’s finance and strategy committee agreed to give £500 to the Sports and Fitness Academy at Henley Leisure Centre to help run the exercise sessions.

But Cllr Reissmann said: “I am going to vote against it. I don’t think any activity where the sole aim is to damage and injure your opponent is sport.”

Councillor Pam Phillips replied: “Boxercise is about fitness. I don’t think the intention is punching your opponent senseless.”

Thankfully, the debate in the council chamber was settled without fisticuffs.
