RESIDENTS from Chilterns Court Care Centre in Henley have helped to settle the national debate over how to best eat a scone.

A survey of residents from the Orders of St John Care Trust, which runs more than
70 homes, reported 171 votes in favour of the Cornish style (jam then cream) and 80 in favour of Devon style (cream then jam).

Residents also voted that scone is pronounced as in “gone” rather than “bone” by 135 votes to 110.
