WHAT a lovely summer we’re having. July was hotter and drier than usual, which helped farmers to harvest early.
The mean maximum temperature for the month was above 25C, which is almost three degrees above the average. Minimum nighttime temperatures ranged from 5C to 17C.
There was only 23mm (less than an inch) of rain as the fine weather did not break until the thunderstorms at the beginning of this month.
My thanks, as always, to Denis Gilbert, of Shiplake, for the statistics.
