Son’s 500-mile bicycle ride in memory of dad

AS you read this, Kim George should be coming to the end of a 500-mile sponsored cycle ride in aid of the Sue Ryder hospice in Nettlebed.

He dubbed the five-day challenge the “Remember Sid George Tour of Yorkshire” as it is in memory of his father, who passed away at the hospice.

Kim has been retracing the route that he and Sid first did together in 1968, his introduction to cycle touring, and using the original Carridace saddle bag from that ride to collect money en route.

He moved to Henley from the Peak District 10 years ago as his wife Susan started a new teaching post at Rupert House School. Susan’s sister is town councillor Lorraine Hillier.

Kim is a director of Path Hill Outdoors in Goring Heath, a not-for-profit organisation that offers an alternative curriculum to students who struggle at school or have been excluded, and he and Susan are the main partners of the Henley-based Teenage Wilderness Trust and work with many local young people.
