ALTHOUGH the temperature was well into the twenties for 25 days in August, the mean temperature was a degree below the norm.
There were a few quite cold nights and on August 24 the temperature dropped to 2C, the lowest ever recorded in Shiplake in August.
A total of 83mm of rain fell, 30mm above the average. Most of it fell on five days, including the bank holiday, when there was nearly an inch (22mm).
My thanks to Denis Gilbert for the statistics.
