SHIPLAKE College headmaster Gregg Davies was nervous about having his portrait painted as this honour is usually reserved for those who are retiring.
He sat for about two hours for impressionist and figurative artist Sherree Valentine Daines to mark the opening of the college’s new £4.3 million art block.
Gregg says: “In most schools you only get your portrait painted when you retire so I did wonder if it would give the governors some ideas!
“It was humbling really — I’ve never had my portrait painted as it only happens to important people.
“When you ask people who know about art about Sherree you find she’s not just nationally known but internationally revered.” The former international rugby referee found sitting harder than expected.
