Puppy becomes celebrity

DIGBY the border terrier has become a minor local celebrity since he was rescued from the Thames by Mike Read.

The BBC Radio Berkshire presenter pulled the puppy from the river in Henley last month after he fell in while chasing ducks.

Read, 67, has since been honoured with a Hero to Animals award by the animal welfare charity PETA.

Now seven-month-old Digby is becoming almost as well known as his rescuer after his story was published in the Henley Standard.

His owner Sarah Prior, 43, of St Mark’s Road, says: “He’s getting quite a lot of attention, which is amusing.
