THIS picture shows friends Chris Britton and Lucas Meagor with the golden post box in Hart Street, Henley.
The pair stopped off briefly on Saturday during a 3,000-mile cycle ride around the 111 golden post boxes in Britain that were created by Royal Mail to mark the achievements of the Team GB athletes at the London Olympics and Paralympics in 2012.
Chris, 36, from Bristol, and Lucas, 38, from Kingston-upon-Hull, started on May 31 and plan to complete the trip in 27 days — the same number of days of competition at the two Games. Their journey will take them all across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as to the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, ending in Lucas’ home city. They are supporting three charities — Paralympics GB, Tree of Hope and Sport Relief.
The Henley post box marks the achievement of Leander rowers at the Olympics. Three Leander athletes won gold medals at Dorney Lake — Alex Gregory and Pete Reed in the men’s coxless four and Anna Watkins in the women’s double scull.
