Scorer 100 not out

LINDA CARTER, scorer for Henley Cricket Club’s 1st XI, has joined the Home Counties Premier Cricket League’s “100 Club” for scorers who have completed a century or more games.

She was officially inducted by league fixtures secretary John Goodman at Henley’s match at Tring in front of her team and club chairman Brian Kenworthy.

Linda, who is one of just 15 members of the club, actually reached the milestone at the end of the last season having then scored at 101 games — 32 for North Maidenhead CC, where her son Simon played, and 69 for Henley.

After former Henley scorer Bill Waldron retired at the end of 2008, scoring duties were shared between the committee members until Linda volunteered to take over. Her son Paul plays for Henley.

Linda, who teaches in Maidenhead, scored her first game on August 15, 2009 and, apart from the odd weekend when club secretary Michael Roberts has filled in, has been on duty at every match since.
